Big seas and winter dune stabilization...

Big seas today in Porthtowan...the surf report for the next few days gives it 8-10ft and messy.  We have a few weeks free here at Seashells so have been enjoying the view snuggled up on the sofa with a blanket and a cuppa. The fencing across the back of the beach is a temporary measure to stabilize the sand and help to protect the newly established dune system so it is not destroyed over the winter. During the winter storms sand often blows over the road and we even find it on our roof and in our gutters! Hopefully the new fencing will do its job to reduce this and we won't have to get up the ladder to clear them next spring. Full credit to the Porthtowan dunes community group - it will be really lovey to have a proper dune system at the back of the beach in a couple of years time.
